As shown from the studies, although the act of preserving reflects human’s effort to prevent things from changing, decaying, dying, sometimes it projects the opposite consequences, sometimes there is a voice requesting the alternative, and sometimes the act of preserving and not preserving resides simultaneously. I realized that the act of not-preserving is just as significant as preserving, and this fact is often overlooked or simply negated. Therefore, I dive into the idea of not-preserving involving seven related concepts that are normally considered as negative, undesirable and pessimistic. I displayed the dichotomy between these concepts and their ‘positive’ sides, interpreted them with my intake from the studies I did with reference from literature, film, media theory or solely from my own life experience, and executed them into a set of visual representations aiming to free them from those dichotomy that covered their true form. They are my defense for the act of not-preserving.
